Midjourney AI Video: What It Makes, and How to Get a Full Narrated Video in That Look
Last updated: ·
Midjourney is known for striking AI images, and since its V1 video model it can also animate an image into short clips. A YouTube video or a Short needs more than moving clips, though: a script, a voice, captions, scenes that follow one story and characters that look the same from start to finish. This page explains what Midjourney's video model makes, according to Midjourney's own announcement, how the words of a Midjourney prompt carry over to a video, and how FacelessCast makes the whole video, every scene generated and moving, in the look you describe. It also compares the main kinds of AI video tools without naming any, so you can see which one fits what you want to make.
Midjourney video at a glance
The short version, with the source and its date for every number:
- Midjourney's video model is image-to-video: you animate a Midjourney image, or upload one of your own as the start frame, and add a motion prompt (Midjourney, V1 video model announcement, 18 June 2025).
- Each video job makes four clips of 5 seconds, and a clip can be extended about 4 seconds at a time, four times in all (same announcement).
- A video job costs about 8 times an image job, and it launched on the web only (same announcement).
- A finished YouTube video or Short also needs a script, a voice-over, captions, an edit and often music; the announcement describes the clips, not those parts.
- FacelessCast makes all of it from one chat message: it writes the script, generates and animates every scene in the look you describe, voices it in any of 37 languages and adds captions.
- Midjourney is a trademark of Midjourney, Inc. FacelessCast is an independent product, not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Midjourney.
What does Midjourney's video model make?
Midjourney introduced its V1 video model on 18 June 2025. The workflow starts from a still: you make an image in Midjourney and press Animate, or you upload an image from elsewhere, mark it as the start frame and describe the motion. An automatic setting writes the motion prompt for you, and a manual one lets you write it yourself. Low motion suits calm scenes with a mostly still camera; high motion moves the subject and the camera, with more risk of distortion.
One job gives four 5-second clips. You can extend a clip by about 4 seconds at a time, four times, so one shot can reach a little over 20 seconds. Midjourney put the price of a video job at about eight times an image job. These are the figures Midjourney published at launch; check its documentation for the current ones before you plan around them.
What does a finished YouTube video or Short need beyond moving clips?
A clip is one shot. A video that holds viewers is a sequence of shots that tell one thing, and the parts around the pictures decide most of its watch time. If you start from clips, these are the jobs still left:
- A script: an opening that hooks in the first seconds, a middle that keeps a promise, an ending.
- A voice-over or the characters' own lines, timed to the pictures.
- Captions, for viewers who watch with the sound off.
- Scenes that follow the script, in the right order and length.
- The same characters, with the same faces and clothes, in every scene.
- An edit in the right frame: vertical 9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, landscape 16:9 for YouTube.
- Music and sounds, when the video calls for them.
How do you make a full video in a Midjourney-like look with FacelessCast?
FacelessCast is an AI video generator you talk to. You describe the video and the look you want, and it makes the finished video, with every scene generated as a moving AI clip. Nothing starts until you accept the price.
Step 1: describe the video in the studio chat, in your own words or with your own script, and add the look in the words you would use for a Midjourney image: the art style, the light, the colors, the mood. Step 2: the studio asks only what is missing, such as the length or the frame, and shows a plan with the exact price in credits. Step 3: draw a free storyboard, one sheet with the characters and every scene, to check the look before anything is made. Step 4: accept, and the video is made: the script, every scene drawn in that look and animated, the voice, the captions, and music if you asked for it. Step 5: if one scene is not right, say what to change in the chat; only that scene is made again, and the rest of the video stays as it was.
Which words of a Midjourney prompt carry over to a video?
Most of what makes a Midjourney prompt work describes the look, and the look carries over. What does not carry over is what only Midjourney reads, such as the parameters written with two dashes at the end of a prompt.
| In a Midjourney prompt | In a FacelessCast request |
|---|---|
| The subject: a lighthouse keeper's cat on a stormy night | The story or topic, and who is in it; the studio turns it into scenes |
| The art style: watercolor, soft 3D animation, anime, cinematic photo | The same words; they become the look of every scene |
| Light and color: golden hour, teal and orange, neon at night | The same words; they carry through the whole video |
| Camera words: wide shot, close-up, shallow depth of field | Say them for the video or for one scene; the studio writes each shot's direction |
| Parameters after two dashes, such as the aspect ratio | Midjourney only; choose vertical for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, or landscape for YouTube |
| A reference image for a character | Describe the character once; it is saved and drawn the same in every scene |
Can FacelessCast animate my Midjourney images?
Not as uploaded artwork. FacelessCast draws its own scenes from your words, in the style you describe, so they fit the script, the frame and each other; it does not take an image you made elsewhere and make that exact picture move. The photos you upload are used in product videos: a promo or a UGC ad shows the real product from its photos.
If you need one exact image to move, an image-to-video tool does that one image at a time; Midjourney's own Animate does it for Midjourney images and for images you upload. If you want a whole narrated video in a look like your images, describe that look in FacelessCast and it makes every scene.
How do the main kinds of AI video tools compare?
AI video tools fall into a few kinds, and each is good at a different job. This compares the kinds, not named products; what any one tool offers varies and changes often, so check its own pages.
| FacelessCast | Image-first AI art tools | Short-clip video generators | Avatar and presenter tools | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| You start from | A chat message or your own script | A text prompt | A prompt or an image | A script |
| You get | A finished video: script, scenes, voice, captions | Images; some also animate an image into a short clip | One clip per job | A talking presenter reading your script |
| Length of one result | Up to your plan's limit: 3 to 20 minutes | Usually seconds of motion per image | Usually a few seconds per clip | Usually minutes |
| Voice-over and captions | Included, in 37 languages | Usually added in a separate editor | Sound in some; captions rarely | Voice included; captions in many |
| Same characters in every scene | Saved characters, drawn the same in each scene | Kept with reference images, image by image | Varies from clip to clip | One presenter |
| Changing one part | Say it in the chat; only that scene is made again | Generate that image again | Generate that clip again | Edit the script and render again |
| What you pay for | Credits per generated clip, shown before anything is made | Usually a subscription with generation time | Usually credits per clip | Usually minutes per month |
What does a full AI video cost on FacelessCast?
Planning is free: the chat, the plan with its exact price and the storyboard cost nothing. AI video is paid with credits: a clip of about six seconds costs 20 credits at standard quality (10 at draft), so a minute of standard AI video is about 260 credits and about half at draft quality. A talking clip, where a character's mouth moves to its line, costs 40.
Plans start at $10 a month for 400 credits (Starter), and Creator gives 800 credits for $19, enough for about three minutes of standard AI video. Credit packs start at $5 for 100 and never expire. Your first video is free: one video cut from real stock footage, up to 2 minutes, with a small watermark; AI video is never free.
Who should use which?
Use an image-first tool when the image itself is the product: art, covers, mood boards, posters, and short loops of a single picture. Use a clip generator when you need one striking shot for an edit you are making yourself. Use FacelessCast when the result you need is a whole video for YouTube, Shorts, Reels or TikTok: a story, an explainer or a promo, with a voice, captions and the same characters throughout, made from one request and changed scene by scene.

Is FacelessCast part of Midjourney?
No. FacelessCast is an independent AI video generator and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Midjourney. Midjourney is a trademark of Midjourney, Inc.
Can Midjourney make videos?
Yes. According to Midjourney's announcement of 18 June 2025, its V1 video model animates an image: one job makes four 5-second clips, and a clip can be extended about 4 seconds at a time, four times. A video job costs about eight times an image job. Check Midjourney's documentation for current details.
Does a Midjourney video come with a voice-over and captions?
Midjourney's announcement describes animating images into short clips; it does not describe a voice-over, captions or an edit. For a narrated video you add those in an editor, or use a tool that writes, voices and edits the whole video, as FacelessCast does.
Can I paste my Midjourney prompt into FacelessCast?
Yes. The words for the art style, the light, the colors and the mood carry over and become the look of every scene. The parameters written with two dashes are Midjourney's own; in FacelessCast you choose vertical or landscape instead.
Can FacelessCast animate an image I made in Midjourney?
Not as uploaded artwork. FacelessCast draws its own scenes in the look you describe, so they fit the script and each other. Uploaded photos are used in product promos and UGC ads, where the real product is shown.
How long can the video be?
Up to your plan's limit: 3 minutes on Starter, 5 on Creator, 10 on Pro and 20 on Studio.
Is it free?
The chat, the plan with its price and the storyboard are free. AI video costs credits, from $5 for 100 or a plan from $10 a month. Your first video, cut from real stock footage, is free; AI video is never free.
